As a medium video games have helped expand the field of art production and are a powerful tool for outreach. They afford a strong sense of agency through audience participation that is now being explored by artists and designers. While the sense of agency brings people together, it also affords a platform to actively think and rethink ideas.
This is a text based platform games series titled US vs THEM. These games are online and can be accessed via a QR code. These QR codes were be printed on 36” x 36” paper and the large sheets will be placed on the floor, side by side. The audiences were able to scan the QR codes, and play the game on their smartphones by tapping on the screen.
These games reference the current political narratives of exclusion, or building walls (physical and/or metaphorical,) the pitch battle cries of "us" vs "them," and every political dialogue that begins with the word "no." Unlike conventional games, these games have no end, no points, no rewards, no winners, or no losers...
